{"id":286,"date":"2012-12-07T15:09:08","date_gmt":"2012-12-07T21:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/talkingwithjulia.com\/?p=286"},"modified":"2012-12-07T15:09:08","modified_gmt":"2012-12-07T21:09:08","slug":"december-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talkingwithjulia.com\/?p=286","title":{"rendered":"December 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On this day in the year 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.\u00a0 President Roosevelt called it &#8220;A day which will live in infamy&#8221; in his speech declaring war on Japan.\u00a0 In those days, a &#8220;war&#8221; had a beginning and an end.<\/p>\n<p>My parents, on December 2, 1941, stood before a Justice of the Peace, and were declared married.\u00a0 In the picture always called the wedding picture, my Dad is wearing his Army Air Force uniform.\u00a0 Five days later, the USA entered the world war that was already raging in Europe and Asia.\u00a0 My dad left my mom for his assignment in January, 1942.\u00a0 Throughout my life, when points of decision arose, I heard my mom say, &#8220;The world could go to war tomorrow.&#8221;\u00a0 It was her way of saying, &#8220;Take the risk, don&#8217;t delay.\u00a0 Go forward, take action.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s &#8220;wars&#8221; drag on and on, are not declared, and seem to have no particular purpose.\u00a0 Has the world changed so much, or has my perception changed?\u00a0 Some of both perhaps.\u00a0 There is so little I understand, but one thing I do perceive is this: we are continually engaged in a battle for our souls.\u00a0 Will we find our way to truth and life, or lose our way in the confusion of this world?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On this day in the year 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.\u00a0 President Roosevelt called it &#8220;A day which will live in infamy&#8221; in his speech declaring war on Japan.\u00a0 In those days, a &#8220;war&#8221; had a beginning and an end.
