{"id":276,"date":"2012-12-04T17:47:18","date_gmt":"2012-12-04T23:47:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/talkingwithjulia.com\/?p=276"},"modified":"2012-12-04T17:47:18","modified_gmt":"2012-12-04T23:47:18","slug":"sewing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talkingwithjulia.com\/?p=276","title":{"rendered":"Sewing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In October, our church choir director talked about our special program for December 16.\u00a0 She said she was envisioning how it would look in the front of the church.\u00a0 She said she was thinking of a heart and she formed her hands in that shape.\u00a0 After the rehearsal, I talked with her and asked her to define more fully what she wanted.\u00a0 I volunteered to make this for her.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t done any sewing for four years, and I sold my machine four years ago.\u00a0 I was thinking, &#8220;I still have my mother&#8217;s machine from the 1950&#8217;s, so I can do it.&#8221;\u00a0 Well!\u00a0 The machine had some problems, so I took it to a repair guy.\u00a0 Oh, he had so many in line before mine.\u00a0 So I borrowed my daughter&#8217;s machine.\u00a0 I bought some fabric, and started in.\u00a0 I had fun experimenting, but my first project didn&#8217;t work as I had hoped.\u00a0 On to the next idea.\u00a0 Then, when the newspaper ladies wanted to come to take those pictures, I had to put everything away.\u00a0 And I only got it out again after all the company left.\u00a0 Meanwhile my machine was finished and I brought it home.\u00a0 Alas!! I still have problems with it.\u00a0 But, since I had the other machine, I was able to finish the project.\u00a0 It is far from perfect, and I can think of many quilters who could do finer work.\u00a0 But it is my offering, and it is what I could accomplish.\u00a0 I hope it meets the director&#8217;s expectation.
