{"id":240,"date":"2012-07-08T17:59:17","date_gmt":"2012-07-08T22:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/talkingwithjulia.com\/?p=240"},"modified":"2012-07-08T17:59:17","modified_gmt":"2012-07-08T22:59:17","slug":"first-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/talkingwithjulia.com\/?p=240","title":{"rendered":"First Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night we visited with a young woman whom we met in 2004.\u00a0 She invited us to dinner with her family.\u00a0 She lives near our school here, so it was all so convenient.\u00a0 Everything here is brand new since the earthquake.\u00a0 It is said that this city advanced 25 years in the rebuilding following that earthquake.\u00a0 Her husband&#8217;s parents contributed half the cost and the young woman the other half to get this apartment.\u00a0 She asked if we do this in America, and I said not usually.\u00a0 She said young people could never afford housing if their parents didn&#8217;t provide it for them.<\/p>\n<p>This morning is the first day of our program.\u00a0 The text books haven&#8217;t arrived.\u00a0 The director has copied pages for the students.\u00a0 There are two teams on this campus, so about 180 participants, of which about 40 are &#8220;ours.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 Breakfast served in the cafeteria from 6:30 to 7:30, team meeting at 7:45.
